Reporting & Modelling Career
According to srilankan model Jacqueline, she had aspired to become an actress at a young age and fantasized about becoming a Hollywood movie star. Srilankan actress received some training at the John School of Acting. Srilankan model Jacqueline Fernandez has fond memories of the time when she worked as a reporter for a Sri Lankan news channel. As her university education was in the field of investigative journalism, she truly enjoyed her job at the news channel. She has stated that she sometimes still misses her reporting days as it was “Adventure every day, coming to work, finding out what the latest news is, working with the team. It was like being a little detective.” While she was still employed as a reporter, srilankan actress started accepting modelling gigs and she accepted offers in the modeling industry, which came as a result of her pageant success. In 2006, she was crowned the winner of the Miss Universe Sri Lanka pageant and represented Sri Lanka at the world Miss Universe 2006 pageant held in Los Angeles. She was a srilankan professional model for the next three years and participated in various commercial campaigns. Srilankan model Fernandez described the modeling industry as "a good training ground" and said: "It is a medium that is about shedding your inhibitions, knowing your body, confidence".
Acting Career
In 2009, srilankan actress Jacqueline Fernandez traveled to India for a modeling assignment. She successfully auditioned for Sujoy Ghosh's fantasy film 'Aladin (2009)' her acting debut. She played the love interest of Riteish Deshmukh's character, a role based on the character of Princess Jasmine. Srilankan actress shared screen space with Deshmukh once more in her next release, the 2010 science fiction romantic comedy ‘Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai’. She portrayed Tara, an alien girl from Venus who comes to Earth looking for love. In 2011, she was cast in ‘Murder 2’ which proved to be a major hit. After the success of this film, Actress appeared as one of the female leads in ‘Housefull 2 (2012)'. She played Bobby, the love interest of John Abraham’s character, Max. It was one of the most successful movies at the box office that year. In 2013, Srilankan actress portrayed Omisha character in the action thriller ‘Race 2’. Starring alongside Saif Ali Khan, Anil Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, and Abraham, Fernandez learned fencing and some acrobatics to flesh out her character. The 2014 release ‘Kick’ is the biggest blockbuster of her career till date. The film also starred Salman Khan, Randeep Hooda, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Fernandez played Dr Shaina Mehra, a psychiatrist living in Warsaw, Poland and was allowed to retain her own voice for the first time in a film.
The next project was Vikramjit Singh’s ‘Roy’, a 2015 romantic thriller. Srilankan actress also appeared in two other Indian films that year, ‘Bangistan’ and ‘Brothers’. In the horror thriller ‘Definition of Horror’, Fernandez portrayed Sarah Fording, a psychology student. Besides being her first British film, it was also her first outing as the main protagonist. Jacqueline Fernandez returned in 2016 for ‘Housefull 3’, playing a character named Ganga "Gracy" Patel this time, the love interest of Akshay Kumar's Sandy. The film was a commercial success and next film the action adventure Dishoom also grossed well at the box-office. In 2017, srilankan actress Fernandez appeared in Chandran Rutnam's English-Sri Lankan crime-thriller 'According to Matthew'. The film was her maiden cinematic appearance in Sri Lankan cinema as well. The next film was the action-comedy 'A Gentleman (2017)', with Siddharth Malhotra from the director duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K. Later that year, she appeared in David Dhawan's comedy film 'Judwaa 2', opposite Varun Dhawan and Taapsee Pannu. The film proved to be a box-office success and In 2018, she starred alongside Salman Khan in 'Race 3', the third addition to the Race Franchise. Race 3 was a box office success earning more than expected.

Srilankan actress Jacqueline Fernandez appeared in many music videos including "O Sathi" song by duo Bathiya & Santhosh with the female singer Umaria Sinhawansa in 2007. Bathiya & Sathush is a Sri Lankan musician and composer and both are from Sri Lanka and have worked in the entertainment industry.
