Early life
Jacqueline Fernandez is a Sri Lankan actress who was born in Manama, Bahrain on the August 11th, 1985 to a multi- ethnic family. Her father Elroy Fernandez is a Sri Lankan and her mother Kim Fernandez is a Malaysian. She has an elder sister and two brothers.
After completing schooling in Bahrain, Jacqueline Fernandez received a scholarship to study at the University of Sydney, in which she pursued a degree in Media and Communications. Later on, after completing her studies she moved back to Sri Lanka and pursued a career in Modelling, and this led her to winning the Title of Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Universe in 2006. Following this win, Jacqueline was featured in her first commercial music video 'O Sathi' . A music video by the Sri Lankan musical legends Bathiya and Santhush.
Acting career
Following the success and fame she received through Miss Sri Lanka, she moved to India with the dreams of becoming a Bollywood actress. Her talent and hard work led her towards landing a role in the film Aladdin in 2009. Her outstanding performance in this movie received critical acclaim and she won the Filmfare award for the best female debut as well.
Throughout the career of this Sri Lankan actress, she has given life to different types of characters across a wide range of genres such as romance, comedy, thriller, action, drama and sci-fi. She has starred in 39 movies so far, which includes both lead and supporting roles, across various languages. Apart from Bollywood films, she has also acted in Sri Lankan and British films. In 2014, Jacqueline Fernandez made her Hollywood debut with the film 'Definition of Fear'. Being a Sri Lankan actress, she also starred in a Sri Lankan movie called 'According to Matthew'. She is also one of the very few Sri Lankan actresses who has starred in foreign films.
Being an outsider and coming from a different country, the level of success she has achieved and established within Bollywood is truly commendable and inspiring. Jacqueline Fernandez has received many renowned awards and accolades as a result of the versatility of her performances and for her dedication towards her craft.

Personal life and philanthropic work
Taking a glimpse at her personal life, this Sri Lankan actress views yoga as an important part of her life and does it as a daily ritual. she believes that it is a great holistic approach to achieving health and wellness. She is also a major fitness enthusiast and has a regular workout schedule to maintain her fit and toned physique. She is also a big foodie, so she loves to explore different types of cuisines. She also owns a restaurant named 'Kaema Sutra' in Colombo, Sri Lanka which is all about contemporary Sri Lankan cuisine. She also shares a very close bond with her family, and loves to spend time with her family and friends.
Regardless of her busy schedule she actively involves in many philanthropic endeavors. She enjoys dedicating her time for charitable causes and is passionate about uplifting the needful communities. During Covid -19 she also launched the YOLO Foundation and partnered up with several NGOs to support people affected by the pandemic. And currently, this organisation carries out animal welfare and rescue programmes. She has also received several awards for her contribution towards such humanitarian causes.
This Sri Lankan actress strongly supports and stands up against animal cruelty. Her widespread contributions and collaborations to bring in light on to matters pertaining to animal rights, made her the First recipient of PETA India's Digital Activism Award.
Outside of her remarkable talent and contributions towards the Film Industry, she dedicates her time towards generous causes aimed at uplifting communities and making a positive impact in society. Such activities which reflects her selflessness and compassion, in bringing about a positive change in the world, has gained respect and admiration from many people.
