The self-taught culinary expert, Dharshan Munidasa, is a celebrated Sri Lankan chef, restaurateur and TV personality. He is the visionary behind two of Sri Lanka's highly acclaimed dining establishments, Nihonbashi and Ministry of Crab, both of which have been listed on Asia's 50 Best Restaurants. Additionally, Munidasa served as the charismatic host of the popular television show, Culinary Journeys with Dharshan.
Inspired by his heritage and a passion for authentic Japanese cuisine, Munidasa opened his first restaurant, Nihonbashi, in 1995 at Galle Face Terrace, despite lacking formal culinary training.
In 2011, Munidasa, along with Sri Lankan Cricketing Legends, opened the Ministry of Crab at the 'Old Dutch Hospital'. It stands out as one of the country's first restaurant solely devoted to serving lagoon crabs.
Despite lacking any formal culinary training, Dharshan Munidasa has risen to prominence in the culinary world, both locally and on a global scale.
