IISER Thiruvananthpuram

IISER Thiruvananthpuram is dedicated to scientific research and science education of international standards. It was founded in 2008 by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The institute aims to provide high quality education in modern science, integrating it with outstanding research at the undergraduate level itself, and to develop a spirit of inquiry, cutting across disciplines. UFS 2022 is being organized at Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Thiruvananthapuram. The campus is surrounded by the “Western Ghat” mountain ecosystem and is arguably one of the most picturesque Indian campuses. Spanning about 200 acres, it is located at Vithura, ca. 40 km from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, at the foothills of the Agasthyamala hills. It includes a substantial tract of rain-forest that is contiguous with the Agasthyamala Biosphere Reserve. The buildings are nestled amidst lush greenery, and provide a breath-taking setting for academic work.

About Thiruvananthpuram

The word ‘Thiruvananthapuram’ is derived from the Malayalam word thiru- anantha-puram, which means ‘City of Lord Ananta’. It is also Called the ‘Evergreen city of India’, Thiruvananthapuram is the capital of the state of Kerala. The city comprises beautiful beaches, long stretches of palm fringed shorelines, windy backwaters and historical structures. Along with its natural and historical significance, the city is also popular for its ancient temples that are renowned for their architecture making Thiruvananthapuram one of the most visited pilgrim centres of India.
