Research Interests:
1. Programmable Nanoparticles for Selective Sensing of Genetic Diseases:
We design, synthesize and physicochemically characterize new nano-biomaterials for selective sensing of genetic diseases. My lab is particularly interested in designing new nanoprobes towards point-of-care diagnosis of these diseases.
2. Advanced Non-Viral Systems for Image Guided Therapeutics:
We synthesize and develop stimuli-responsive, nature-mimicking targeted nano-biomaterials from newly designed ionizable lipids. Their physicochemical properties are evaluated and efficacy of the nanocomposite platform is determined for theranostic applications under both in vitro and in vivo conditions. Towards this, we combine different therapeutic modalities with various diagnostic imaging techniques.
Thus, Moitra lab is working towards the urgent unmet clinical need to develop novel non-viral delivery systems for safe and effective delivery of nucleic acid-based therapeutics for genetic diseases and establish a personalized therapeutic plan.
The developed technology is also collaboratively being explored for rare genetic diseases, neglected tropical diseases and various infectious diseases prevalent in India.
