The main objective of brain tissue segmentation is to accurately divide brain MRI images into different tissue types—typically gray matter, white matter, and cerebrospinal fluid. This process helps in analyzing brain structure, monitoring neurological diseases, and aiding in diagnosis and treatment planning in medical and research settings.

This segmentation is crucial for analyzing the tissue’s microscopic features, detecting diseases like cancer, and assessing the severity of conditions. It aids in automating the process of disease diagnosis, providing quantitative data for research, and improving treatment planning by offering detailed insights into tissue morphology and abnormalities.
