Dr. Gaddam is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER)-Bhopal, India. He is also an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the the Centre for Future Materials, University of Southern Queensland, Australia.
Dr. Gaddam pursued his Ph.D. under Prof. George Zhao and Dr. Ashok K Nanjundan at the University of Queensland (UQ), Australia on alkali-ion batteries. He was awarded the International Post-Graduate Research Scholarship and UQ Centennial Scholarships for his Ph.D. Prior to this, he briefly pursued his research at Washington University in St Louis, the USA, and at the CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology.
He is also the recipient of the prestigious Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship to pursue his research in the field of energy storage at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), Germany. Dr. Gaddam is a recipient couple of awards and honors recognizing his contributions to research, including the Humboldt Fellowship (2019), Carl Friedrich von Siemens Supporting Fund for AVH Fellows (2019), Candidate Travel Award (2018), Young Scientist Encouragement Award (2017), Kansai Nerolac Award for best Masters’ thesis (2015) to mention a few.
Dr. Gaddam’s current research focuses on understanding fundamental processes underpinning electrochemical energy storage as well as engineering advanced functional materials for energy applications. Dr. Gaddam’s research group also actively pursues translational and industry-oriented initiatives through his start-up co-founded along with Dr. Manoj Krishna (a senior scientist in his group), ReGenVolta Pvt. Ltd. The company focuses on developing novel battery recycling technologies, coin and pouch cell fabrication and testing, solid-state battery development, battery post-mortem analysis, and consultancy services for energy storage solutions.
