Angana is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences in Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Bhopal. She is a geologist working on sedimentology. Her interest lies in provenance of sediments and sedimentary rocks for interpreting past landforms (paleogeography) and environments (paleoenvironments). She uses petrography, geochemistry, geochronology and chemical composition of heavy minerals for analyzing rock samples.
Angana is a recipient of the Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellowship from the AvH Foundation, Germany. She is also a member for the Early Career Scientists Committee of the International Association of Sedimentologists. She was invited by the German Research Foundation (DFG) to represent Germany at the SERB-DFG Week of the Young Researchers 2023 where she presented a summary of her work carried out at the University of Göttingen, Germany.
She was first introduced to Sedimentology in St. Xavier’s College Mumbai, India during her undergraduate studies. She completed her doctoral research on Sedimentology from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. During her PhD, Angana also worked with researchers in the National Geophysical Research Institute (India), Hiroshima University (Japan), University of Calabria (Italy) and University of Strathclyde (UK).
Beyond academics, Angana likes to crochet, read, write and learn new languages.
