CREAtivity

Creativity is an important of my life. It allows me to freely express myself without worrying about what other people think. This page is dedicated to all the CAS activities in the area of Creativity during my IB program

Re-learning how to play the piano:

I first starting taking lessons at 7 years old. Originally, my parents forced me to go, however, after my first lesson, I was hooked. I continued taking lessons until early 2020, right before the COVID-19 pandemic forced everybody to stay inside. Because of the pandemic, I was no longer able to take lessons at my local music conservatory, and although I tried to keep playing, I eventually stopped. When the pandemic lockdown ended in late 2021, the music conservatory had closed, however, my piano teacher reached out to me to let me know that he was offering private classes at his house. When I began practicing I realised that I was no where near as good as I once was. Learning how to play the piano again was very tedious and quite stressfull. For this reason I consider that this experience meets the requirements for objective number 1: identify in oneself the strengths and areas in which improvement is needed, objective number 2: show that challenges have been faced and new skills developed in the process, and objective number 4: show commitment and perseverance in CAS experiences.

Painting games for the primary students at my school:

Our school organized a day for us to paint games in the primary area of my school (grades 1 through 6). On a Friday morning when there was no school that day, our class came and began planning the activities. First, we looked at possible games on pinterest we could replicate with the area given to us. Once we had chosen the models we were going to follow and separated ourselves into small groups, we went and began cleaning our preferred area. Then, with a bit of chalk, we marked the general shape of the game we were going to paint. Once the area was marked, we painted over the lines we had drawn. This experience was made easier by teamwork. We came together and proposed ideas for the scale of the game, we distributed the tasks amongst eachother in order to speed up the process, we debated which colors would look best and generally helped eachother throughout the day. This activity involved a lot of planning and teamwork which is why I consider that this CAS experience meets the requirements for objective number 3: show me how to start and plan a CAS experience, and objective number 5: show teamwork skills and recognize the benefits of collaborative work.
