Fin-O-Mics

It is a single round event conducted on March 10th, 2018 at 10 PM.

Fin-O-Mics is an opportunity for you to use your vast knowledge of finance to solve some interesting questions from diverse areas of Corporate Finance, Financial Markets, Derivatives, Financial Reporting and Analysis, Micro and Macro economics etc.

There was a lot of enthusiasm and participation from B-schools all over the country. 360 Teams registered. Three teams were chosen as Final Winners

FINAcumen

FINAcumen is an opportunity for you to use your accumulated knowledge to solve some interesting questions from areas of Corporate Finance, Financial Markets, Derivatives, Financial Reporting and Analysis, etc.

It is going to be a Two-round event, with the first round commencing on November 18th, 2017 at 9 PM.

Guidelines for the participants:

A team of two students will have to register on the link shared by the club.
A Google document (password protected) with questions shall be shared with the registered teams to be answered within the stipulated time.
Few teams would move to round two, where they would be expected to compare two (given) firms on basis of valuation, management, etc.
Details of round two shall be disclosed only to the selected teams.
No prizes for getting through to round two.

Round 1 -- 18 November 2017

Round 2 (submission deadline) -- 28 November 2017

Workshop on Applied Financial Models

On 24th November 2017, FINesse organized One-day workshop on Applied Financial Models covering varied topics ranging from Behavioral Finance, Corporate Finance Portfolio theory to Econophysics. The workshop was taken by esteemed professors, Dr. KOUSIK Guha Thakurta, from IIM Indore and Kaushik Ganguly, from IIM Kozhikode. The workshop helped students to understand the industry practices and bridged the gap between the theory and its applications in the industry.

Risk-Smart Organizations - Building & Preserving Value

FINesse is extremely delighted to host amongst us Mr. Subhashis Nath, Global Senior Partner - Enterprise Risk & Compliance from Axis Risk Consulting to share his vast 20+ years of risk consulting & corporate advisory experience and enriching insights that have set a benchmark in the entire industry. The session was indeed very enriching and interactive workshop with two real-life case studies .The session helped the students at IIM Nagpur to gain insights on

Goods & Services Tax Session

Understanding the conundrum behind Goods & Services Tax was a topic looming in many of our minds. It could be not explained better by someone else other than the one who was a part of the committee who made a transition plan for GST. On August 5, 2017, FINesse, The Finance club of IIM Nagpur, organized “Understanding GST” session by Deepak Kumar Jain B, Founder Director of Accolet Advisors Private Limited and IndiaGST.com.

The session covered the differentiating elements of GST, compliances around it and the value it holds for each stakeholder involved – Government, Corporates and end customers. It helped IIM Nagpur students understand the challenges it brings along with it, as it is in its evolutionary stage and how it can make India – one nation and one market.

Session on Demonetization

The intention & the contention behind the policy measure uncovered.

FINesse, the Finance club of IIM Nagpur, organized a session on Demonetization to help the students understand the objective of the Modi Government, behind this move. The session was taken by Prof. Ajay Pandey, IIM Ahmedabad faculty. He is well known for his areas of research interests in capital markets, corporate finance, public procurement and corporate governance.

The session gave students an insight on how this policy measure would help in curbing the existing black money & fake currency circulation in the economy and how the move towards a cash-less era would inculcate discipline in the financial transactions.

Prof. Ajay Pandey explained the operational challenges behind this policy measure and how the exemptions have been exploited, which is restricting its effects to come out in the best possible way. He also suggested what could have been the additional best measures that could have lessen the antagonistic views for Demonetization.

Session on Union Budget 2016

IIM Nagpur organized a panel discussion of distinguished experts to discuss and debate different perspectives on this year’s Union Budget. The panelists included knowledgeable economists Dr. Vinayak Deshpande, HOD of the Dept. of Business Management at RTM Nagpur University, Dr. Errol D’Souza, Professor of Economics at IIM Ahmedabad, and stock market experts Ms. Shivani Dani and Dr. Nikhil Atale. Dr Anjali Kulkarni, Ex-HOD of the department of Economics of Nagpur University, did a great job of moderating the discussion and adding valuable insights.
