To address the issue of low awareness about the provision of Section 12 (1) (c), RTERC joined forces with ward councilors from Ahmedabad city. In 2016 ward councillors of the city of Ahmedabad conducted a "pad-yatra" or walking protest across the city, to raise awareness about the provision. 100 people participated, including youth wings of political parties. Participants handed out pamphlets and fliers having information about the benefits of the provision, eligibility criteria, documents requires, and application process.
The pad-yatra has now become an independent and annual pursuit of ward councilors in the city of Ahmedabad, carried out prior to the on-set of the application cycle.
RTERC collaborated with 200 Aanganwadi centres in Ahmedabad city in 2015, as part of a awareness campaign. Anganwaadi workers participated in the awareness drives with the student team of RTERC. They conducted sessions and used visual aids to tell parents about the provision. Anganwaadi centres and the women running them, proved to be a very crucial cog in communication and awareness campaign run by RTERC in its initial years. Many centres have continued carrying out independent campaigns since then.
Prior to RTERC's intervention these centres used the 'Kishori Yojana' kit to conduct monthly sessions for girls between 11-18 years of age to inform them about healthcare, nutrition and livelihood options.
Since the first year of implementation RTERC has partnered with various higher education institutions for recruitment and training of student volunteers, with leading policy and legal research think- tanks such as Centre for Policy Research, New Delhi , Central Square Foundation, and Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy for conducting research and publication of annual reports.
Below is a video testimonial published by Central Square Foundation on 23rd April 2015 about the annual State of the Nation Reports documenting implementation of the provision in states across the country.
