Karan Babbar is an Assistant Professor at Jindal Global Business School (JGBS), OP Jindal Global University and holds a PhD from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. His research focuses on social and economic inequalities in India, with a particular emphasis on health, education, gender equality, and development. This is evident in his work, which has been published in leading journals such as Scientific Reports, Journal of Development Studies, Social Science & Medicine, The Lancet Public Health, and Economics & Human Biology. His current research explores critical issues like women's reproductive health, domestic violence & women’s empowerment, and health & sanitation. He was awarded the SPJIMR-DoCC Regunath Research Fellowship for his doctoral work and recently completed a Women's Safety project in Faridabad for the National Commission of Women.
Dr. Babbar's interdisciplinary approach combines quantitative and qualitative methods to understand how social determinants shape socioeconomic outcomes. He actively translates his research findings into actionable policy recommendations and passionately advocates for gender equity and social justice. In addition to his academic work, Dr. Babbar has contributed to projects on health and sanitation and violence against women for the University of Pennsylvania and the International Center for Research on Women (ICRW).
