Further, the institute has been declared as an Institute of National Importance by an Act of Parliament. The major objective of its establishment is to set up a model of education which can produce best-in-class human resources in IT and harnessing the multidimensional facets of IT in various domains. The Institute has established its satellite campus at Diu (UT) in 2020, named as IIITV International Campus Diu (IIITV-ICD).
This program is offered as a PG certification in the emerging areas. This program is aimed at training the faculty members of engineering disciplines in the emerging areas. The program is specifically designed keeping in mind the need of flexibility both in terms of the modularity and scheduling of the sessions.
Through “AICTE-QIP-PG Certificate Programme” in Emerging Areas, AICTE aims to train the faculty members from core Engineering disciplines like Mechanical, Civil, Electrical and Electronics, Chemical etc. in the Emerging Technologies which in turn shall enable them to impart effective teaching to the students enrolled in courses on Emerging areas. Prof. Dharmendra Singh
The Director IIIT Vadodara
Duration of the program is six months. Total number of credits for the certification program is eighteen. One credit equals thirteen theory/ hands-on hours or twenty six laboratory hours.
The program will run in hybrid mode. First two and last two weeks will be in-person at the host institute and the rest twenty weeks will be run in online mode.
Typical average number of hours per week for the program is around six credit hours (six theory/ hands-on or twelve lab hours or a combination thereof). The schedule of sessions (theory/ hands-on/ lab) are to be managed within the following slots: Mon-Friday (6:00pm-8:00pm) and Saturday (9:00am-12:00am and 2:00pm-5:00pm). If required twelve to sixteen hours per week can be flexibly managed within the above mentioned slots.
Following the broad guidelines provided by AICTE the institute has designed specific courses with a stress on hands-on exercises and a mini-project.
To help the learner, the courses are composed of sequential. The credits associated with a course are divided in smaller units called "micro-credits".
The assessment of each module will be completed as soon as the module content is covered. This pedagogy helps the learner focus on topics covered in a module and move forward with the next topic by getting timely feedback on his/ her understanding of the concepts covered in a particular module.
Guided projects will provide the participants with an opportunity to work on a real life problem under the mentorship of the institute faculty member.
The participants will be hosted at IIIT-ICD, at Diu for initial and final two weeks duration.
