PARO MISHRA

I locate myself broadly in the field of social anthropology and gender studies. My areas of interest are New Reproductive Technologies, Information Communication/ Digital Technologies, Migration and Transnationalism, Demographic Anthropology, Kinship Studies, Masculinities, Aging, Intimacies and Care as a form of labour.

I have been exploring the impact of demographic imbalance on family and kinship relations in India for over a decade now. My doctoral research examined the phenomenon of cross-regional marriage migration as a response to local sex-ratio imbalance and marriage-squeeze in north India.

My ongoing research projects interrogate the intersections of Digital Technologies, Aging and Reproductive Health in India.
