“COME FROM AWAY does not linger on the tragedy that it is based but rather shows the resiliency and life-changing good that humanity can produce in the face of chaos and loss.”

“The people of Gander, Newfoundland, demonstrated how humanity can open its heart as well as its home to those in need who’ve come from away.”
Vocal Director
Christopher Weisenborn (Maroa-Forsyth Middle & High School)
“I first saw COME FROM AWAY with the original cast in New York City, and by chance, the writers were in attendance that day. We had the opportunity to speak with them after the performance, which made the experience even more meaningful. Hearing about the countless interviews they conducted to shape the story we see on stage today was incredibly moving.
One of the moments that resonates most with me is the show’s conclusion, when the passengers choose to give back and “pay it forward” each year. It’s a powerful reminder that even small acts of kindness can carry lasting impact—something we can all take to heart as a simple, personal way to honor that day.”
Musical Director
Rusty Russell, Fieldcrest High School
“I would love to give the audience an authentic Newfoundland experience with the music we make on the stage.”
Choreographer & Assistant Director
Kady Richey, Danville High School
“My relationship with COME FROM AWAY began when the cast album was released. Long before I ever saw a live performance, the score and story had already moved me deeply. That connection reached a new level last summer when I traveled to The Muny in St. Louis with my high school theatre students. Watching the raw emotion and the profound relationships unfold on stage was an overwhelming experience that stayed with me long after the final curtain. I am honored to now help bring this story of humanity and hope to life.”

“I first saw COME FROM AWAY in New York having just come from visiting the 9/11 Memorial. The combination of seeing the Memorial and hearing the stories in COME FROM AWAY from those who were directly impacted by the event was a very emotional experience.”
Co-Technical Director
Jonah Sheckler, Edwardsville High School
“I appreciate how this show focuses on the people as opposed to the tragedy. The sense of community and togetherness that came from that day was something I had not seen prior to 9/11. Differences were set aside and we all took care of each other. That's a story I can't wait to get into.”
Costume & Prop Designer
