ALLSTATE CAST/CREW/PIT AUDITIONS/INTERVIEWS EXTENDED TO MAY 25
We know this time of year gets incredibly busy with spring productions, finals, AP testing, concerts, graduations, and all the other end-of-year commitments students are balancing. To help make sure everyone has the chance to participate, we are extending the application deadline to May 25. We want every student to have the opportunity to audition for cast or pit, or interview for tech, for the Illinois High School Theatre Association’s All-State production of Something Rotten!
For students applying for tech: Don't stress about the portfolio! Use it as a chance to showcase yourself and your interests as best you can. We will learn so much more about who you are, your passion, and your potential through the interview process and our conversations with you. We encourage students of all experience levels to apply!
What is the Illinois High School All-State Production?
The Illinois High School All-State Production stands as a unique and unparalleled experience in the high school theatre world. All-State is just one of the many parts of the Illinois High School Theatre Festival (IHSTF), which is proudly produced by the Illinois Theatre Association (ITA) every year. The All-State production is a collaborative project where students and staff from across Illinois unite to create something special that wouldn't be possible through the efforts of any single school. Through their combined talents and hard work, they produce a show that highlights the incredible talent and creativity that exists within the state's high school theatre community.

ALL-STATE WEEKEND ATTENDANCE POLICIES
Because we have such limited time to mount this show, all rehearsals and builds for each group (cast, crew, pit orchestra) or the full company are paramount, and attendance is mandatory when called. All-State company members who must miss rehearsal for illness, emergency, or events outside of their control will be addressed on a case-by-case basis.
Please note that conflicts cannot always be accommodated. Missing rehearsals may result in changes to your role, job, or position within the company—or, in some cases, removal from the production altogether. If you are excused from a rehearsal due to a reported conflict and it is later discovered that the conflict was not truthful, a meeting will be held to determine appropriate consequences, which may include removal from the company.
Students will not be required to miss a school day in the fall in order to attend rehearsal if their school is in session during scheduled rehearsals.
On the audition application, all students (Cast, Crew, and Pit Orchestra) will submit a schedule conflict sheet, which includes any mandatory school events that require their attendance.
These conflicts may affect your ability to be selected for the All-State company. We understand that you may have an important game, concert, family event, etc.
Please talk to your teachers, directors, and parents BEFORE you audition. Anything that falls on a rehearsal day must be listed as a conflict.
Please also list the time you need to be absent. Missing a couple of hours is very different than a whole day or weekend and could affect our casting or selection decisions.
Inclement weather shall be considered to ensure the safety of the All-State company; this may result in the alteration of a rehearsal schedule.
Missing rehearsal for religious holidays is permissible, but dates and times must be communicated in advance as a conflict.
No conflicts will be honored for rehearsals in December and January.
