Proven Academic Success:

Using the new I-Ready Common Core Diagnostic Tool:

We sampled students from grades 6-8 who participated most regularly in after-school this year.
These students averaged a 25.2 point increase in their I-Ready Math Scores between September and January.
The highest scores were earned by those who had the most attendance.
The Math score increase was from as high as 85 points, indicating significant growth in Math skills and understanding.
Compare these results to the I-Ready Math target for this period (13 points). After-school participants are performing better than the target.

The AIA After-School Program was rated 'Excellent' by the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) - the highest and rarest rank ever awarded to an after-school program - when its top brass visited in 2017.

After-School gives every student a chance to improve their academic grade, with our "Daily Intensive" Homework Help and tutoring with experienced AIA teachers in Math, Science, ELA, Arabic and Social Studies. Students use Ipads, Chromebooks and the Computer Lab to do their I-Ready and Castle Learning, Class Projects, Accelerated Reader Quizzes and prep for Competitions, Diagnostics and Exams.

ART

Team ROBOTECH - Al-Ihsan's first Robotics team - was formed in 2017 in after-school through the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD's) 'Leggo My Lego' initiative. The inaugural team won First Place for Core Values & Teamwork in its very first competition! Today, we have two Robotics Teams: Team ROBOTECH and Robotech Girls, competing in the prestigious FIRST Lego League (FLL) .
Join our robotics program today! This could be your child's the first step towards a rewarding career in engineering and Computer Science.

Our award-winning Debate Program started in 2016 and the trophies have started to pile up! Through after-school, Al-Ihsan Academy regularly fields teams of 4, 8 or even 12 students against top teams from NYC schools in the American Debate League and NYC Urban Debate League competitions. Students learn how to research, write and speak convincingly, valuable skills they will need later in their lives.
Get your child involved in our Debate Teams! These communication skills last a lifetime - stepping stones to success in every field.

Students participate in the DYCD's annual calendar of competitions and events, including the 2017 DYCD 'Chess In The Schools' Chess Masters tournament. Naturally, we got a trophy out of that one as well!
After-school participants work hard and play hard, learning valuable life skills along the way while having fun.
