Confirmation Sponsors
At IHM, sponsors must be a confirmed, active Catholic, regularly partaking in the Sacraments, willing to pray for the candidate during their preparation, present them for Confirmation, and commit to praying for the candidate and encouraging growth in holiness throughout the candidate's life. You are also asked to meet with your candidate 6 times to discuss habits that will help them make God a priority throughout their lives. The information for these meetings will be provided at the Sponsor meeting.

What is the role of a mentor?
When a candidate's sponsor is unable to meet with them to discuss the required Confirmation Prep material, a mentor is assigned to them. A mentor must be an IHM parishioner who is a confirmed, active Catholic, regularly partaking in the Sacraments, willing to pray for the candidate during their preparation, be trained with the Confirmation Prep material, meet with the candidate at least 6 times during preparation, and have completed Safe & Sacred and a background check.
Mentors will help prepare the candidates for life as a Catholic after Confirmation through the use of habits like prayer, reading Scripture, stewardship, and so on.
