Circle Time: Secrets of the Apple Tree

By Enza Maltempi

The book Secrets of the Apple Tree by Carron Brown is an extremely entertaining book. It is one of 9 in the Shine-a-Light book collection. This book follows the stories of a tree and the animals inhabiting it. Each page holds its own secrets that can be revealed with a flashlight behind the page.

It's a lengthy, yet fun, book with a surprise on each page. It was entertaining and exciting with each page turn. The flashlight is a very interesting concept. I rate the book 3.4/5. The concept was fun and interesting, but there were more facts than there was a story. I would recommend this book to kids who are fans of the national geographic books or love nature facts. The book was a fun read and is available in our school library.

Review: Six of Crows

By Aleena Kuttikadan

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo is a spectacular book for anyone interested in dystopian and fantasy books. For ages 12 and up, Six of Crows is an amazing fast-paced book that keeps the reader gripped till the very end.

It traces the path of Kaz Brekker and his brigand of thieves and liars as they attempt one of the trickiest escapades in the history of the Grishaverse.  To save all the Grisha from total destruction (and, more importantly, get 4 million kruge (43,179,790 US dollars)), they must sneak into the heavily fortified Ice Court and steal the secret method to controlling the Grisha. Throughout their perilous journey, they must encounter the monsters of the future while facing the demons of their past.

Be aware that this book contains certain graphic details, violence, and language only appropriate for older ages.
