Through our Academic Mentoring Program, our scholars receive academic intervention during the day-school and after-school programming. Dreamers Scholars are matched with a mentor who provides 1:1 academic mentoring for an academic year. Mentors use phonics approaches and guided reading to build literacy skills and a love of reading.
The impact of mentoring can be significant and long-lasting. Studies have shown that students who have a mentor are more likely to graduate from high school, attend college, and have higher career aspirations. Furthermore, having a mentor can improve a student's self-esteem, confidence, and overall well-being.
