AN INITIATIVE TOWARDS ATMANIRBHAR BHARAT
IGNOU has more than 3.0 million students enrolled for different programme from all over the country. It has been noticed that a large number of IGNOU students have innovative and entrepreneurial mindset and many of them have their own startups or they are interested in developing their enterprises. But, they do not have proper guidance and support in taking up their Ideas or Startups to the next level. It is, therefore felt that, if such students are identified and provided the right kind of guidance, proper training and other academic support, many of them can do much more than what they are doing now and thus they can be great contributors to the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission of the Government of India. Also in context to the National Education Policy-2020 one of the mandate given to educational institutions is to inculcate the entrepreneurial mindset in the students.
With this in mind, the National Centre for Innovation in Distance Education (NCIDE) at IGNOU has taken an initiative to identify the established and budding innovator and entrepreneur students of IGNOU and give them due recognition and support by introducing a scheme of Recognizing IGNOU Student Entrepreneurs (RISE) as a Part of the IGNOU Udyami portal.
Objectives of IGNOU-Udyami
The basic objectives of the IGNOU-Udyami are as follows:
Identifying and recognizing the innovator and entrepreneur students of IGNOU interested in developing their enterprises or have already developed the same,
To inculcate mindset of an entrepreneur in the interested students of IGNOU,
Creating an online network of such innovators and entrepreneurs to collaborate with each other,
Impart guidance, required training and support in taking their ideas or startups to the next level,
Harness the potential of IGNOU students towards Atmanirbhar Bharat Mission of the Government of India, and
Utilizing the network of IGNOU alumni who are established entrepreneurs to enable the University.

The successful entrepreneurs including the Alumni of IGNOU will be involved in motivating the budding innovator and entrepreneur students from time to time through virtual sessions on different topics.
Efforts will be made for connecting and facilitating the IGNOU Udyami with the Government of India’s Entrepreneurial Development Programme and schemes from time to time.
