K-5 Counselor

Hello everyone! I am Katie Pannell and I am so excited to be a bobcat for this school year! I grew up in Durango, Colorado and spent a lot of time with family in Ignacio and I couldn't be happier about working here. I graduated from Fort Lewis College in 2019 and my Masters of Counselor Education from Adams State University in 2022. After I graduated from Fort Lewis College I spent some time in China as and English as a foreign language teacher to kids between the ages of 3-15. When I got back I wanted to continue my passion for working in schools and entered Ignacio School District as a paraprofessional then school counselor. I have two pets a cat, Stella and a dog, Mila. My favorite activity in the world is going on walks with Mila or taking naps. I am looking forward to getting to know you this year!

k-12 Social Worker

Hello everyone! I am Bree Duran and I am the District K-12 Social Worker. Generally, I am here to be a resource and support to students and caregivers, and do what I can to remove barriers to student success at school. My work for Ignacio Schools includes individual and small group counseling, connection to community resources, being a liaison between the school and parents, and case management. Also, I am our McKinney Vento liaison, which means that I can provide support and services to those who are struggling with housing stability as well as youth in foster/kinship care.

I graduated with my Bachelors degree in Social Work from Ball State University in 2015, and then I earned my Masters degree in Social Work from Western New Mexico University in 2021. In my free time I enjoy camping, gardening, playing roller derby, and going to the hot springs. I look forward to getting to know you!
