Welcome to this global knowledge-sharing initiative! As the world faces increasingly complex challenges, there is growing recognition that synergistic approaches are essential for addressing the triple planetary crisis (climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution) while advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This database, managed by the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES), serves as a platform to collect and share successful cases of synergistic solutions from Asia-Pacific and beyond. Building upon insights from the Global Synergy Reports (2023-2024) and thematic reports on climate and SDG synergies, we have developed a standardized format to make these cases more accessible and actionable for policymakers and practitioners.
We invite you to contribute your experiences and success stories! Whether you have implemented or been involved in projects that demonstrate positive synergies between environmental action and sustainable development, your insights are valuable. By sharing your case studies through this common format, you can help others learn from your experiences and inspire more integrated approaches to global challenges.
Join us in building this collaborative knowledge base for a more sustainable future.
We invite governments, businesses, civil organizations, and other stakeholders to share their experiences in implementing synergistic approaches to sustainable development.
What we are looking for
We are looking for initiatives whose objectives are relevant to the triple planetary crises (climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution) and the SDGs and meet one or more of the following conditions:
Provide examples of combined actions that address several objectives simultaneously maximizing impact (synergistic approaches).
Show how addressing issues in one area results in additional benefits (co-benefits) in other areas.
Describe approaches that reduce trade-offs among targeted issues.
We are looking for examples of approaches that maximize impact by leveraging the inherent interconnections among different issues.
We are especially interested in projects involving successful cross-sectoral cooperation or coordination to tackle the triple planetary crisis and sustainability-related issues in general.
