What is Model United Nations (MUN)?
Model United Nations (MUN) is a renowned academic simulation that replicates the procedures and structure of the United Nations. Students referred to as delegates, represent member states and engage in discussions on complex global issues such as international security, economic development, climate change, human rights, and many more. These debates occur within structured committees, guided by formal rules of procedure, where delegates must research their assigned countries' positions and work collaboratively to propose viable, diplomatic solutions.
MUN offers far more than academic challenge. It cultivates essential skills such as public speaking, negotiation, critical thinking, leadership, and global awareness. Participants develop the ability to engage with multiple perspectives, think on their feet, and advocate for consensus-driven change. At its core, MUN empowers students to become informed global citizens, capable of addressing real-world challenges with clarity, confidence, and respect.
What is EosMUN?
EosMUN is a student-led Model United Nations conference hosted annually at IGB International School, a globally minded IB World School in Malaysia. Established and organized entirely by IGBIS students, EosMUN exemplifies the values of initiative, leadership, and collaboration. The name "Eos" derives from the Greek goddess of dawn, symbolizing a new generation of thinkers and leaders rising to meet the world's challenges with optimism, intellect, and integrity.
With carefully curated committees, thought-provoking topics, and an inclusive environment, EosMUN invites delegates from various schools and backgrounds to engage in high-level discourse and cooperative problem-solving. The conference is designed to welcome both novice and experienced delegates, ensuring an enriching experience for all participants.
More than just a conference, EosMUN is a platform for youth empowerment, intercultural dialogue, and transformative education. It reflects the mission of IGB International School to cultivate globally engaged learners, while also creating a meaningful space where student voices are not only heard but also valued and celebrated.
