EARCOS Weekend

Welcome

We are excited to host this EARCOS weekend and provide you with the opportunity to join us in the unique learning experience with the acclaimer coach, consultant and author, Silvia Tolisano.

Empowering teachers to become lifelong learners!

The workshop is comprised of 8, 90minute sessions. Over the two days we will explore and engage with the following main themes:

1) Curriculum Updates: There is a NEED and URGENCY of updating curriculum and instructional repertoire to give the critical literacies of our century justice. Upgrading and amplifying traditionally taught activities, lessons, units or entire classroom learning environments.

2) Documenting as/of/for learning: Looking at tools and techniques that make learning visible, amplifiable and meaningful to all members of the learning community.

3) PD Hub Development: Teachers and administrators struggle to find time to work together in a meaningful way. There are plenty of meetings scheduled. Many teachers leave these meetings though with the feeling of “could have spent my time doing more important things”. How do we squeeze in one more meeting to help teachers grow as professionals? How do we add one more opportunity for teachers to learn important new skills, listen to one more educational consultant, one more expert on a new initiative? How do we give teachers the time to learn with and from their own colleagues? How can teachers learn from what is going on in the classroom next door. In these sessions, we will take a closer look at: The steps to take as you are developing a professional development hub for your school

4)Teachers as Learners: From your colleagues in the building you work in, a cherished personal mentor, professional development opportunities offered sporadically throughout the year, conferences and college credit classes taken for re-certification to blogs, RSS feeds, Twitter, Nings, and Skype among others. Learn how to be in charge of your own Professional Development, connect to learning opportunities around the world, and about tools that enable you to make a 21st century Learning Network possible.
