In this section, we are going to share some local news related to Renewable Energies and Natural Disasters.
A viewfinder has been presented. Its function is to look for all the large car parks with dimensions greater than 1,000 m² on the Islands that can be covered with photovoltaic panels.
Specifically, 102 car parks, which meet these characteristics, have been located in Ibiza. They represent an area of 302,149 m² and could generate up to 24,171 kW, about 4.26% of the electricity consumed on the island.
This viewer "is the first step in a global strategy to promote solar energy generation in all car parks with solar potential in the Balearic Islands".
It should be noted that, in data from all over the Balearic Islands, the new viewer has identified a total of 794 car parks.
The initial calculations that emerge from the viewer indicate a potential for renewable electricity generation of up to 220 MW.
If all these car parks were covered by photovoltaic panels, we could reach the figure of 6.1% of electricity consumption in the Balearic Islands.
