Hello! We are the educational community of Reyes Católicos High School of the province of Saragosse (Spain). In our high school we always take care of the environment and make our best to be an ecological school.

During the European Week for Waste Reduction we want to make visible to the rest of the society how much invisible waste we produce in our everyday life and how simply we can change our habits and behaviours to respect the planet.

Invisible waste is the waste that the product’s production generates. A great part of this waste can’t be recycled and most of them finishes in large landfills, so this also takes part in the increase of CO2 and pollution.

For a more sustainable production and consumption, products should be easy to recycle and completely non-poisonous and have a longer useful life.

Our campaign BUY LOCAL, CARE GLOBAL focuses on showing citizens how local commerce contributes significantly to waste reduction. Buying something from a nearby shop generates less waste than buying it from online or in department stores.

The advertising campaign consists of 5 videos, recorded in our high school and in local stores that compare the production of invisible waste when buying the same product in one place or another. Because a picture is worth a thousand words.

With this campaign we also want to promote the economy by raising awareness of the importance of local deals in our town and to arouse the stabilization of population to fight against depopulation in rural areas.
