THE RISE AND FALL OF ANCIENT ROME
In ancient times, around 753 BC, a small village in Italy known as Rome is growing slowly. People here are farmers and shepherds, just trying to make a living. But Rome has big dreams.
Over the years, Rome becomes a kingdom, then a republic. People are tired of kings, so they create a government where they can vote for leaders. They call it a republic.
Rome's army is strong, and they conquer many lands around the Mediterranean Sea. They build roads, bridges, and amazing buildings for example, the Colosseum.
Julius Caesar, a powerful general, becomes very popular. But some people worry he'll become a king, so they assassinate him.
Then, Rome goes through tough times. There are civil wars, emperors like Augustus who bring peace, and emperors like Nero who do crazy things.
In AD 476, the Roman Empire finally falls. People from different places come to Rome, and it becomes a city, not an empire.
Even though the Roman Empire is gone, its ideas and culture still influence the world today. It's a fascinating chapter in history.
