Information about the neighborhood and city (video)
– Moraleda is a small town located in the province of Granada (25 minutes driving from the city center). It is mainly a farming community with a calm and relaxing environment. This is a small High School with 140 students in which you will be able to do a lot of cultural activities with the students (visiting monuments in the city center, concerts, cinema, sport activities, hiking, extracurricular activities with other high schools in the area, etc.) and given the small number of students, it is easier to have a closer relationship with them and their teachers.
– What can the location offer the language assistant? This town is surrounded by several natural routes since there are many hiking activities nearby. Also, the town is near other big towns which offer historical buildings (Loja, Salar or Huétor Tájar) related to the Roman Empire and Muslim Ages in Spain.
– Webpage link made by students of this High School with information related to this town. https://sites.google.com/view/moraledaysuhistoria/
– It is important to do activities with locals to learn Spanish as hiking, exploring the local gastronomy or visiting historical buildings nearby. Also, the extracurricular activities provided by the school are offered to you too in case you want to participate with the students in the previously mentioned activities. Making new friends and meeting new people is very easy in this town!
Getting to school
– Public transport is not available in this town. Public buses have a limited schedule which is not compatible with the school one.
– Since there are many teachers coming from different places, it is not possible to know if there will be any possibility of carpooling / sharing car with other teachers. It is better to rent a car for a few months and have your own independence in case you want to visit more places in Andalusia.
Accommodation – Where to live in Moraleda? – Where to live in Granada?
– Living in this town is easy and cheap. There are many families hiring houses or small flats to people coming from other areas. If you’re interested in this option, just contact us and we will find people in this town with any of these possibilities. – If not, sharing a flat in Granada is always a good option if you have your own car. There are many webpages where you can find good opportunities to live here (Airbnb, Facebook, todoanuncios.com, etc.) but you can ask any of us for better information since location and means of transport in Granada is key.
