Here are some tips to get started before your arrival or once you are in Málaga. Please keep in mind that these are suggestions we offer, but they should not be considered an official guide.
We are not going to lie, finding a place to live can be hard in Málaga. It is a great city to live in. The beach, plenty of options for social life, connections to travel to places nearby, etc.
The best option is to share an apartment in the city and take the train or bus to school every day.
If you are going to commute to Alora, being close to the bus/train station would be helpful
Check the group on Facebook or Whatsapp (Auxiliares de conversación en Málaga or Erasmus student groups), where there are usually other people looking for shared housing.
If you choose to live in the town, there are a few apartments for you to check on the boards. Also, you might be able to share an apartment with a teacher.
Sharing an apartment is the norm, since accomodation in Malaga can be quite pricey.

Álora is very well connected with Málaga. Here are some options:
Commuter train (cercanias) schedules: https://www.renfe.com/es/es/cercanias/cercanias-malaga/horarios
The two-way ticket is around 4-5 € but there are student discounts available and currently the ticket is free if you sign up as a resident.
The train leaves you at Alora station and you can take a bus up to the school (about 7 minutes)
Also, depending on the teachers' and the assistant's schedule, there is a possibility of riding with the teachers occasionally.
From Malaga Maria Zambrano to Alora by train and bus is about 50 min.
It takes an average of 35 minutes to go by car.
We strongly recommend to get in touch with other language assistants in the area who may give you tips on accomodation, places to search, areas of the city you may find more interesting, etc. Do it before your arrival!
You may also meet them by joining the groups of "auxiliares" in the media.
