It's widely believed that Lapland was first inhabited after the Scandinavian ice caps began to melt around 7000 years ago. The Sami people were among the first natives of the region and rock carvings from thousands of years ago show age old practices like reindeer herding which continue today.

Lapland culture is based on good habits and being honest, people are very nice, so you won't have any problem with them.

The Sami culture in Lapland is connected to the reindeer, similar as the Native Americans with buffalo. There are more reindeer than people in Lapland; the animals have long served to meet many needs of the Sami. Every reindeer in Lapland belongs to someone.

They use the Euro ,so if you come from the European Union you won’t have any problem with the change of currency.

As Lapland is in a nothern position it has a cold climate. Summers here are relatively mild while winters are cold and snowy. Although it is an arctic region, Lapland is not as cold as other areas of similar latitude. The weather in Finland stays quite mild thanks to the influence of the North Atlantic Current.
