It is one of the oldest groups of animals that exist in the world. Although they are adapted to the marine environment, they depend on the terrestrial system during incubation and birth. They have very good at orientation and navigation skills. They feed mainly on marine plants, sponges, molluscs, crabs and fish.
There are seven species of sea turtles that live in the world, and three of them frequent the Mediterranean Sea: they are the leatherback turtle, the green turtle and the loggerhead turtle.

It is called boba because of the ease with which fishermen catch it floating on the surface.
Its body is full of keratinized epidermal scales of brown, red and yellowish colors.
They have large and strong jaws, the front fins are small and thick. Males have a longer tail than females.
They are oviparous animals.
It is a migratory and solitary species.
It is in danger of extinction.
Its main threats are nest predation, accidental capture in fishing, ingestion of marine waste, intentional capture and marine pollution.
