Dr. Das received his B.Sc. degree from Vidyasagar University, Medinipur (W.B.), and M.Sc. degree from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi (U.P.). He completed his Ph.D. in December 2010 under the supervision of Prof. Puspendu K. Das and Prof. E. Arunan at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore where his research interests include the infrared spectroscopic studies of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) and Diols in the gas phase. He was a postdoctoral research fellow with Prof. Yuan-Pern Lee at the National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan with research interests in the identification of transient chemical species using para-hydrogen matrix isolation (p-H2, 3.2 K) infrared spectroscopy. Subsequently, he spent six months at IISc Bangalore as a research associate to develop Time-Resolved Step-Scan FT-IR spectroscopy for solution phase reaction dynamics. Then, he moved to the University of Alberta, Canada, where he worked on helium nanodroplet isolation (0.38 K) laser spectroscopy of molecules, molecular complexes, and transient chemical species with Prof. Wolfgang Jäger. In 2018, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Engineering & Rural Technology Allahabad where he developed an Engineering Chemistry lab. In 2021, he moved to Ganpat University as a senior Assistant Professor, where he developed a vibrational spectroscopy lab at the Department of Chemistry and guided both PG(M.Sc.) and Ph.D. students.
He was selected for the prestigious Alexander von Humboldt (Germany) postdoctoral research fellowship in 2015 and awarded for the best poster presentation in 2013. He was also awarded a Lectureship in NET and GATE (AIR 62) in 2004, etc.
Research Field(s)/Specialization: Physical Chemistry, Vibrational spectroscopy, matrix-isolation spectroscopy, He-nanodroplet spectroscopy, laser spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, computational chemistry, HPLC, instrument development, photochemistry, molecular interactions, drug degradation and dissolution, and green synthesis of NPs.
Opening: Ph.D. Position available in my group; interested candidates are advice to mail me their CV and discuss further process.
