The 2021 Virtual Rethinking Economics For Africa (REFA) Festival is themed: "Economics and the Covid-19 crisis”. It is organised as a series of lectures in four concurrent streams with local and international guest speakers. The four streams are:

• How did economics (mis)understand the crisis?

• Economics' blindspot of social reproduction;

• Economics after the crisis: emerging trends in economic thinking

• The impact of the Covid-19 crisis on African economies

The opening plenary webinar is on Tuesday 31 August followed by a film screening and discussion.
