Epic is a FREE ebook app that students can use during regular school hours (7am - 3pm).

To use Epic:

  1. Go to www.getepic.com/students

    • 5th graders: class code spv9877 (Ms. Ellie's library class)

    • 6th graders: class code qww0533 (Ms. Liz's reading class)

  2. Find your name or click on "Guest"

  3. Start reading!

How to get a Public Library Card

You will need:

  • A parent or guardian's permission

  • Your mailing address

  • A personal email address (not your IEC email address).

Step 1: Determine the county you live in

    • Hennepin: Minneapolis, Brooklyn Park, Brooklyn Center, Crystal, St. Louis Park, Hopkins, Edina

    • Anoka: Columbia Heights, Circle Pines, Fridley, Spring Lake Park, Blaine

    • Ramsey: New Brighton, Falcon Heights, Mounds View

    • St Paul: If you live in the city of St. Paul

Step 2: Visit the public library website for your county

Step 3: Follow the instructions to fill out a library application online

IMPORTANT!

      • You will be emailed your library card number. Do not use your student email address.

        • Get a parent or guardian's permission to use their email address.

        • Or, if you are 14 or older, create your own email account using a free service such as Google, Hotmail, or Yahoo.

** Ramsey residents: Unfortunately there is no online application for a Ramsey County library card. Please let Mr. Ted know if you live in Ramsey County and would like to sign up for a library card.

If you already have a library card

Great! You are ready to use MELSA Overdrive to start reading!

You will need:

    • Your library barcode number and PIN


Step One: Visit https://melsa.overdrive.com/

Step Two: Sign in

      • Choose your library

      • Enter your library card barcode and PIN


Step 3: Look for available books

    • Click on a book to find more information about it.

    • Click "Borrow" to check out an item.

    • Is there an item you want that's not available right now? Click "Place a hold" to get on the waiting list.

Step 4: Read for hours!

    • If your item is available, you can download the book right away or read in your browser

    • You can also use your mobile device to get the Overdrive app and read right on your phone!
