Do not just redo/turn in missing work without letting me know. I don't just spend time looking for late assignments without knowing they are there!

6th Grade will start learning coding. Coding has the purpose of teaching students one of the basics that is needed in the digital literacy age. Coding also helps strengthen verbal and written skills as well as helps students learn how to "debug" issues, which will help build resilience.

We will be using the Code.org program during the Trimester to complete our projects. Many of our projects will be online as well as paper based. Students will learn that there are many different ways that we use code in our daily lives.

Unit 1

Objectives:

As a result of completing this lesson, students will be able to:

  1. Define what coding is

  2. Create their own coding on the Code.org website

  3. Show different ways that they can code something but come up with the same result

  4. Understand that there are steps and sequences in coding and relate that to their everyday life
