Grading, Homework, and Retesting

Grading

PARENTS:

CHECK YOUR STUDENTS GRADE ON PARENTVUE/SYNERGY

Students will receive a grade in various categories every unit cycle (about every 10 days).

Classwork
Write-on
Test grades (each test category is separate from the others, not cumulative)

- - - Comprehension
    - Writing
    - Vocabulary

Homework

- - - Read and Respond

Homework

Every night, students will read for a minimum of 20 minutes
Students will select their own reading material
Students will write a brief summary on their Read and Respond sheet
The Read and Respond sheet will be checked daily and will provide a homework grade at the end of the unit cycle. (About every ~10 days)
Homework cannot be resubmitted or regraded unless the student was absent

ELA Retesting Policy

In ELA, students will be taking a Cycle Test
- The cycle tests will always focus on the same core skills:
  - Comprehension
  - Vocabulary
  - Writing
Students will have the opportunity to show their improvement and growth on the next cycle test
The cycle tests cannot be taken again unless the student was absent
