Irén Annus is Associate Professor of American Studies at the University of Szeged, Hungary.  She has taught a variety of courses on American culture and society, including the history of art, contemporary visual culture, minority cultures, Victorian cultural history as well as religious and immigration history. Her research interests lie in Cultural and Identity Studies. She has formerly served as Chair of the Department of American Studies as well as Deputy Director of the Institute of English and American Studies at her university. She has also been elected twice as Secretary of the Hungarian Association for American Studies.
