The IDHRC is an umbrella organization that brings together faith-based, voluntary, private and government organizations active in disaster services. The IDHRC currently consists of 70+ member organizations. As the State of Iowa VOAD, we are an affiliate of National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (NVOAD).
Our mission is coordinate a holistic approach to disaster recovery by maximizing public and private resources thereby providing an efficient system that can address immediate and long-term physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of impacted citizens.
Our purpose is to bring together faith-based, voluntary, and government organizations active in disaster services to foster a more effective response and recovery for the people of Iowa in times of disaster.
Access to Resources, Training, and Other Learning Opportunities: The IDHRC offers members a wide array of resources and educational opportunities for organizations, and volunteers.
Committees/Task Forces: Members and Partners gather around topical issues and programmatic activities to improve the delivery of services throughout the disaster cycle, and to further create a climate for cooperation.
Incident Response and Recovery Coordination: In support of our members work to respond to a disaster or help a community recover, we help coordinate and facilitate communication and actions among member organizations, emergency management agencies and other organizations.
Peer to Peer Networking: The IDHRC offers members numerous opportunities to share and discuss best practices and partner on common issues with COADs and regional VOADs.
