About the Teacher
This year is going to be an awesome one! I am so excited to be your third/fourth grade teacher. I am a first year teacher, so I am just beginning my journey, and I am so happy to be starting it at Idaho Arts Charter School. The arts played a large role in my schooling experience. I participated in music, theatre, and dance throughout my life, and I believe it is a large reason that I am the person and teacher that I am today. It's so important to expose children to the arts, especially when integrating it into the general education classroom. I am very passionate about reaching each student's needs and giving them the education that they deserve. These students are talented and capable, and the stakes are too high to let them slip through the cracks. In my free time, I love to ski, hike, play music, and explore outside. I can't wait to explore with you!
I am from Columbus, Ohio, and I attended Wittenberg University. I graduated with a degree and teaching license in Middle Childhood Education, and am currently working on my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Boise State University. I am also a current corps member in Teach for America, and I am so excited for this new adventure in Idaho!
Education has always been my passion, and it is something that fires me up and allows me to be my full self. I truly believe in the equity of education for all of my students and building strong, lasting relationships with them and their families. The theme for my classroom this year is "Explore." My students will be pushed to succeed through exploration, meaning they will actively take part in inquiry, teamwork, kindness, and bravery. My explorers will hold themselves and their classmates accountable for their learning and will be held to high expectations 100% of the time. I can't wait to engage my students through the arts, and create a classroom experience that will leave a lasting, positive impact.
