We visited the platero school for three days and participated in some lessons in primary school classes,
interacting with teachers and pupils. I have seen their projects and observed the way they conducted the lessons taking notes from time to time.
During the lessons I saw how they developed an institute project about emotions. In each class a space has been set up with a chair where a student in the throes of strong emotions can go to calm down and inform the other classmates of the difficult moment he is experiencing.
In the case of mathematisc outdoor, the activity combines mathematical reasoning with sporting activity keeping the pupils' attention alive.
The flag-stealing game made with operations written on slates.The class is divided into groups and each group has to solve a mathematical operation written on a blackboard placed at a distance of about 30 meters. Each child runs, writes a number of the operation and passes the marker to the next partner.
In Platero school they promote mathematical intelligence through the ABN method. The playful experience, the manipulative aspect and the open character stimulate and motivate mathematical understanding.
This method consists of working on mathematical aspects through activities and situations very close to reality and in a manipulative way with materials of habitual use like buttons, toothpicks, caps, etc.
Personally, I see only positive aspects of participating in an Erasmus project. Getting to know different schools, different peoples and teaching methods different from ours is the best way to open up to discussion and learn new things. Each of my Erasmus experiences has been full of encounters and new ideas that I have put into practice for a long time.
