The Akwesasne Freedom School's mission is to sustain the Kanien'kéha (Mohawk) language and culture. LACS (Lehman Alternative Community School) has a 20+ year connection with the Freedom School, with AFS students visiting Ithaca in the fall and LACS students visiting Akwesasne in the spring. Because of the pandemic, we will not be visiting in person, but we will continue reaching out to each other online and will continue to support each other. Usually the funds we raise go to specific building projects at the Freedom School, but this year we are raising funds for the new school they are hoping to build at Akwesasne.
