TYPES OF COLLEGES
A state school college in NY refers to a public institution that is part of the State University of New York (SUNY) or City University of New York (CUNY) systems, which are funded by the state. These public universities offer a wide range of programs and are generally more affordable for residents than private colleges.
An Ivy League school is one of eight private, highly selective universities in the Northeastern United States known for academic excellence, prestigious reputation, and competitive admissions.
An HBCU, or Historically Black College or University, is an institution of higher education established before 1964 with the primary mission of educating Black Americans. Today, while students of all races can attend, they remain crucial in fostering community, culture, and opportunity for Black students
