Inception Program

Inception Program

(Grades 11-12; Full Year; 1-year program 1.5 credits, 2-year program 3.0 credits)

This is a rigorous one or two-year program that affords students the opportunity to take a progressive pedagogical approach to personalized learning and receive the ICS diploma. The program is centered on the school's vision: Our best with Africa and our world. It gives students the chance to discover and explore areas of interest at a deep level and jumpstart potential career interests all while addressing real issues in Africa and the world.

The first year of the program focuses on further cementing the student's personal identity, including interests, learning to learn skills, and experiences. The student will also complete self-generated projects, connect with experts in the field, and mentor other students in the grade 9/10 PLEx period at the end of the year. The second year focuses on building professional learning networks and then engaging in an off campus or on campus internship where students apply skills learned during the Inception Program.

Overall, the Inception Program allows students to chase their curiosities and get the most out of their learning. Every day in the program will be relevant as it directly answers, "why am I learning this?" The real world applications are clear and the depth of learning is rigorous.
