Altar The table of the Lord.
Altar Stone A stone slab containing the relics of
martyrs that forms an essential part of a Roman Catholic altar.
Altar cloth White linen cloth that is placed on the altar.
Ambo Area where the readings are proclaimed and the homily is delivered.
Baptismal font Used to celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism.
Chalice Holds the wine consecrated at Mass.
Corporal The linen cloth spread on the altar. The chalice and paten are placed on the corporal.
Crucifix A cross with the figure of Christ on it.
Cruet Small container for water and/or wine.
Lectionary The book from which the scriptures are read.
Gospel Book Book from which the Gospel is proclaimed.
Paschal Candle Large candle usually found near the Baptismal font.
Pew Area where people sit in the church.
Paten Holds the hosts.
Purificator A small linen cloth used for wiping the chalice.
Roman Missal Also known as Sacramentary. The book used by Priest as he reads the Mass prayers.
Sacristy Small room where the Priest and servers get ready for Mass.
Sanctuary Area where the Altar is located.
Sanctuary Lamp A light or candle that can be found near the Tabernacle.
Stations of the Cross Symbols on wall to illustrate the story of Jesus' Passion and death.
Tabernacle Place where the Blessed Sacrament is kept.
Vestments Garments worn by the Priest.
