Expansion of Mega Events: The government has allocated HK$1.66 billion to the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) to scale up flagship events, extend their duration, and introduce new signature festive elements.
Yacht Economy & Prime Yacht Tourism:
Development of a yacht bay at Airport City with over 500 berths, including spaces for superyachts exceeding 80 metres.
Addition of roughly 600 yacht berths across the ex-Lamma Quarry, Aberdeen Typhoon Shelter, and Hung Hom Station waterfront.
Muslim-Friendly Tourism: To attract Middle East and ASEAN markets, the government is providing a half-rate Halal certification fee subsidy (capped at HK$5,000) for local restaurants.
Horse-Racing & Cultural Tourism:
The Hong Kong Jockey Club is developing horse-themed tourism through a "Two Cities, Three Racecourses" concept, linking Happy Valley and Sha Tin with the Conghua Racecourse in Guangzhou.
2026 being the Year of the Horse will see specialized equestrian-themed celebrations and performances.
Eco-Tourism and Rural Development: A HK$200 million Northern Metropolis Rural-Urban Integration Fund has been launched as a pilot scheme to encourage rural and eco-tourism projects.
Premium Arts Hub: Strengthening Hong Kong's position as a global art trading center by deepening collaborations with Art Basel and opening the within the West Kowloon Cultural District.
Sports Tourism: Promoting major international competitions, including a multi-year partnership with LIV Golf and preparations for the 15th National Games.
Smart Tourism: Upgrading smart-tourism services and utilizing AI and big data to enhance visitor arrival arrangements and the overall immigration experience.
Harbourfront Expansion: Continued development of the Kowloon waterfront promenade, aiming for a total length of approximately 15 kilometers.
Hospitality Excellence: A focus on "storytelling" training for frontline staff (concierges, taxi drivers, and retail assistants) to improve the quality of service for international visitors.
