Special Arrangement for 2023 HKDSE (revised in October 2021)

The school-based assessment for Liberal Studies, i.e. Independent Enquiry Study (IES) has been cancelled, and the corresponding percentage for Paper 1 and Paper 2 had been adjusted accordingly. For details, please refer to the document released by the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority in October 2021.

Department Aims

a. To enable students to develop multiple perspectives on perennial and contemporary issues in different contexts (e.g. cultural, social, economic, political and technological contexts;

b. to help students become independent thinkers so that they can construct knowledge appropriate to changing personal and social circumstances;

c. to develop in students a wide range of skills for life-long learning including crucial thinking skills, creativity, problem-solving skills, communication skills and information technology skills;

d. to help students appreciate and respect diversity in cultures and views in a pluralistic society and handle conflicting values; and

e. to help students develop positive values and attitude towards life, so that they can become informed and responsible citizens of society, the country and the world.
