About DRTC
The Documentation Research and Training Centre (DRTC) was founded under the guidance of Padmashree Dr. S. R. Ranganathan (1892-1972) at the invitation of Prof. P.C. Mahalanobis. Since its inception, DRTC has been a pioneer in Library and Information Science (LIS) education, research, and training in India. It has developed advanced-level teaching programs, contributed significantly to national LIS capacity building, and evolved into a recognized centre for doctoral research. DRTC faculty members are widely acknowledged as research supervisors across universities, and the Centre continues to conduct impactful continuing education and professional development programs.
