The MJS invites the submission of long as well as short papers on original, substantial, and unpublished research in all aspects of basic and applied research. MJS submissions must describe unpublished work. Wherever appropriate, clear evaluation and analysis should be included within the submitted papers. Submissions will be judged on clarity, originality, replicability, correctness, meaningful comparison, and contributions to research resources. MJS is a peer-reviewed journal. Each submission will be reviewed internally and externally. internally by at least one editorial board member, if the submission is found suitable then it will be sent for the external peer review process in which by independent, anonymous expert referees will evaluate the research.
1. Research paper
Original and/or new research findings with new concepts, model or framework with implication focus related with sustainability. The findings or research outcome should have an impact and contribute to the development contribution toward sustainability topic.
Research paper follows IMRAD format (Introduction, Materials/Methods, Results, & Discussion). IMRAD indicates a pattern rather than a complete list of headings or components of research paper. Other parts of the paper include Title, Authors, Abstract, Keywords, Keywords, Conclusions, References and Appendices.
Introduction detailing the objectives, background of study, problem statements, literature, hypotheses
Materials/ Methods
Results
Discussion including research Implication, limitations
Conclusion including suggestions for future research.
2. Conceptual paper
This type of paper focus on ideas development, models, theories, methods, frameworks presented in a form of propositions, hypotheses or even a diagram to provide a details and comprehensive foundation with sound argument to enlightens current state of knowledge on the topics related to sustainability.
Although this type of paper mainly focus on past literatures, it should able to justify and identify the relevant gaps and soundly clarify in advancing the theoretical and practical knowledge on the topic of sustainability with meaningful ideas.
The paper should be between 4000 to 6000 words in length and to be include the tables, framework or figure (whichever relevant). This format of this type of paper should share the same as research paper but will be given flexibility based on the content of the paper presented.
3. Industrial Notes
A short communication from industry players (public and private sectors) have their say on key issues related to sustainability. An industrial note need not to be a scholarly article. There is no minimum nor maximum page limit for industrial notes.
We kindly ask that you prepare your manuscript in the format of the Multidisciplinary Journal of Sustainability (MJoS), which can be downloaded from our website. The MJoS template provides detailed instructions on formatting, referencing style, and other important guidelines to ensure that your manuscript meets our requirements for publication. When your submission is accepted for publication, you will also be required to submit the Assignment of Copyright Agreement

Deadline : MJS have no time frames guidelines for submission and we accept papers round the year. Accepted manuscript will be published in the next available issue (June or December).
Date of Publication: Accepted manuscripts will be published on the next issue. MJS issues are published biannually (JUNE & DECEMBER).
Open Access Policy: This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
At the Multidisciplinary Journal of Sustainability (MJoS), we uphold a rigorous and transparent peer review process to ensure the integrity and quality of published works. The process consists of the following stages:
Initial Editorial Screening
Upon receiving a manuscript, the editorial team conducts an initial screening to assess:
Similarity index (plagiarism check)
Relevance to the journal’s scope and aims
Manuscript structure (e.g., clarity, format, and completeness)
Overall quality of the submission
Ethical considerations, including research ethics and authorship integrity
Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be desk-rejected or returned to the authors for revision prior to peer review.
Peer Review
Submissions that pass the initial screening are sent for single-blind peer review, where reviewers remain anonymous. Reviewers are asked to evaluate the manuscript's originality, methodological soundness, clarity, significance, and contribution to the field. Based on reviewers’ recommendations, the editorial team will decide to:
Accept the manuscript as it is
Accept with minor revisions
Request major revisions
Reject the manuscript
Authors will be notified of the decision along with reviewers’ comments.
Author Revisions and Editorial Assessment
Authors are expected to revise their manuscripts in response to reviewer feedback. Upon resubmission, the editorial team assesses whether the revisions adequately address the concerns raised. If the response is satisfactory, the manuscript proceeds to the next stage. If not, authors may be asked to make further amendments.
Production Stage
Once a manuscript passes the editorial assessment post-review, it enters the production stage, including copyediting, formatting, and final proofreading before publication.
This process ensures that all published articles in MJoS meet the highest standards of academic quality and ethical responsibility.
Article Processing Fees (APFs): There are no charges for submission of a manuscript as well as no charges for article processing or publication.
