Service Learning - Dog Ropes

December 17, 2022

Over 500 dog ropes braided since we began this project two weeks ago. We are ballparking around 531. I am so proud of all of my students! Pictures are below. Although we had hoped we could have a representative from the Haven in Fairhope or the Animal Shelter in Daphne come accept our donation here at school, it could not be arranged. The good news is that students may meet me at each location to present our donations. The dates are:

Tuesday, December 21 at 10 am at the Haven in Fairhope

Tuesday, December 21 at 11am at the Daphne Animal Shelter

Please let me know by email or Remind if you plan to meet me there.

Merry Christmas to all!

PJ SERVICE-LEARNING PROJECT

 DOG ROPES

As we approach the Christmas season, I would like my students to be a part of a service-learning project. I chose the following idea as my sweet Murphy who came from the Haven in Fairhope helped me get through a very difficult time in my life bringing smiles and laughter back much quicker than I ever thought possible. It would mean the world to me to give back to an organization that does such important work.

How can you help? Just clean out your t-shirt drawer and start sending in your donations today. I would prefer adult t-shirts that come in color but will be grateful for whatever you can send in, whether it is 1 shirt, 3, 8, or …….. If you have the time, cutting them into about 2-inch strips would be helpful but not required. I will show them how to curl then braid the strips. The goal will be for us to donate the week of December 20th along with a letter signed by every student. We will share our efforts equally between the Daphne Animal Shelter and the Haven in Fairhope.

Let me know if you have questions
